Alexla Perez-Sanchez used to feel that she didn’t have a place in the outdoors, having immigrated to WNC from Mexico as a young child. After her experience in Summer of Service, that’s changed. 100%.
Alexla Perez-Sanchez first discovered the beauty and peacefulness of nature in Summer of Service. “It’s soul changing,” she says.
Ana Martinez wanted to be more outdoorsy. She knew Summer of Service would mean more time outside. It paid. And it would help her get ready for college. But she didn’t go for it, at first. “I was shy,” she says.
Five young adults give and grow through Conserving Carolina’s new community development initiative
