Speaker Series: America’s Best Kept Secret: The Red Wolf, Our Country’s Most Endangered Wild Animal
May 21, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Date: May 21, 2022
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve
Speakers: Dale Weiler and Loti Woods, of Weiler Woods for Wildlife
America’s red wolf only lives one place in the wild, our home state of North Carolina. With less than 20 in the wild today, they need our help to make them another comeback success story like our nation’s bald eagle.
Come see Dale’s latest red wolf sculptures. Learn about these shy animals that have never harmed a human but help keep their environment in balance.
Sharing a deep passion for wildlife and habitat, Loti Woods & Dale Weiler founded Weiler Woods for Wildlife, a new nonprofit. Their mission is to inspire folks to become champions for Nature’s underdogs, especially the endangered. Our top priority is America’s red wolf.
Dale started wildlife sculpting in his late 40s and never looked back. An artist, a navy pilot, an international consultant and an aerospace engineer all rolled into one.
Loti retired from insurance after forty years to pursue her love of animals and gardening. As an avid wildlife advocate and gardener, planting native plants to help wildlife is one of her passions.
And proving it is never too late, they met in their 60s at one of Dale’s art shows in their hometown of Tryon. After a whirlwind week, they got engaged in 8 days. Now, 6 years later they are on a life journey to save wildlife’s underdogs.
As of 3/7/22 and until further notice, due to CDC guidelines, Conserving Carolina’s COVID policy states – provided our county’s COVID-19 community level stays in the “medium” to “low” level, determined by the CDC – we are no longer requiring masks indoors and there is no need for proof of vaccination and/or negative test.
