CANCELLED – Speaker Series: Mammals and Reptiles of South Carolina

Due to the current health pandemic, all Conserving Carolina events are cancelled through July 31st.

Speaker: Greg Lucas of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources

 

Greg will be discussing the life history and status of South Carolina’s native wildlife including mammals, such as fox, bobcat, beaver, and white-tailed deer, using visual aids and allowing participants to touch furbearer pelts, antlers, and skulls. Greg will also be talking about some of the reptiles that live in the state and he will be bringing LIVE, non-venomous snakes and a juvenile American Alligator to the program!

This program is part of the Landrum Library’s Summer Reading Program for children and is suitable for children and adults; all are encouraged to attend!

Greg has worked for the S.C. Department of Natural Resources for 30 years in conservation outreach, education and recreation. He instructs a Jocassee Gorges class with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Clemson University and is SCDNR’s coordinator for the Upstate Master Naturalist program, and he is a board member with the Foothills Trail Conservancy and Preserving Our Southern Appalachian Music.
