Landrum Library Speaker Series: Balancing Avian Conservation & Agriculture
January 25, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Date: January 25, 2024
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Landrum Library
Speakers: John Quinn, Associate Professor of Biology at Furman University
This presentation offers a dive into the increasingly important space of balancing bird conservation with agricultural productivity. With agricultural land covering 40% of Earth’s surface, how do we ensure the survival and thriving of bird populations? During this program, John will discuss innovative strategies and best practices that harmonize ecological needs with farming demands.
John is an Associate Professor of Biology at Furman University. His research emphasizes concerns related to biodiversity conservation and sustainability; in particular a focus on avian ecology, conservation agroecosystems, and sustainability for landscape planning. He is from Minnesota but has lived in South Carolina for 12 years.
The Landrum Library Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.
