Invasive Species Awareness Special Workday

March 1 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Invasive Species Awareness Week is the last week in February (February 26 – March 1). We are supporting the NC Forest Service’s statewide Weed Out Day by removing invasive plants from the Florence Nature Preserve, and we need your help!

We will work on removing Multiflora Rose, Bittersweet, and Privet, trying to hand pull as much as we can as that is the most effective treatment this time of year. We will take a snack/lunch break mid-way through, so bring your favorite packable foods.

Wear long sleeves and pants and sturdy work shoes. Be sure to dress for the weather and bring plenty of water.

We will meet at the Strawberry Gap trailhead and from there we will carpool/caravan up Little Pisgah Rd and work on one of the northern parts of the preserve that is away from the main trailhead.
