Date: March 16, 2027

Time: 6:00 p.m.

What’s happening in nature right outside your door? Join Dr. Jon Storm, professor of biology at USC Upstate, to explore the plants, animals, fungi, and other organisms you may encounter around your backyard and neighborhood at this time of year. Learn what’s active, what seasonal changes are underway, and discover some of the fascinating natural history unfolding all around us.

Jon Storm is a Professor of Biology at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Jon also manages the Southern Piedmont Natural History social media, where he writes daily about things you might see or hear in nature at that time of year. His educational outreach to the public led to him being awarded the Governor’s Award for Scientific Awareness from South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster. Jon also serves as the Co-Director of Communications for the Upstate Chapter of the South Carolina Native Plant Society. His research has been featured on the National Public Radio and in The New York Times.

The Landrum Library Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.
