Two Dumpster Loads And a Trailer of Debris
Hurricane Clean-Up on The French Broad River
A huge thank you to the incredible volunteers who joined Conserving Carolina and MountainTrue this past Saturday for a stellar cleanup effort along our Everett Road property in Transylvania County! This 18-acre site, bought for for public river access and future potential natural river restoration, needed a whole lot of TLC in the wake of Hurricane Helene – and you all answered the call in a big way.
A Community Effort for Conservation
We had a fantastic turnout, with volunteers of all ages pitching in to remove debris and spruce up this section of the French Broad River. Some of this debris included trash carried by Helene, fallen branches, destroyed structures, and even an old anvil?
Thanks to the seamless teamwork of a great group of volunteers, we were able to accomplish so much. In fact, we were so efficient that we managed to completely fill two large dumpsters and a trailer in record time! This speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of our community.
This cleanup event wasn’t just about making the property look better; it was about protecting the health of the French Broad River and ensuring its accessibility for everyone to enjoy. Removing debris helps prevent pollution, protects wildlife habitats, and enhances the overall recreational experience. It’s a tangible way to make a real difference in the preservation of this precious resource.
Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers!
We are immensely grateful to MountainTrue for partnering with us on this important initiative, and of course, our biggest thanks goes out to all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy. Your hard work and passion for conservation are what make our work possible. Together, we’re making a real difference in protecting the natural beauty of Western North Carolina.
