As the Saluda Grade Trail Manager, Summer leads community outreach, public engagement, and strategic communications for the regional trail project. Summer grew up in upstate South Carolina and, after years away, was drawn back by the landscapes and communities that shaped her.
She holds an MA in English and an MFA in Writing from McNeese State University. With extensive experience designing community engagement strategies and facilitating cross-jurisdictional partnerships, Summer has spent her career helping diverse stakeholder groups navigate complex initiatives. Her deep roots in the area and longstanding civic involvement give her a grounded understanding of local priorities and the collaborative spirit this once-in-a-generation project deserves.
