Ruth was born and raised in Fletcher North Carolina. She obtained her A.A at Blue Ridge Community College and then having been inspired by the beauty and biodiversity of the surrounding mountains, went on to obtain her B.S in Environmental Studies at UNC Asheville. After graduation she gained employment conducting natural resource surveys and management for The National Ecological Observatory Network, The University of Georgia’s Warnell School of Forestry & Natural Resources, The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Division: Wildlife Resources Division, & North Carolina State University in partnership with The United States Forest Service.
She has a passion for botany, ecological restoration, wildlife habitat, and GIS. Ruth is a certified FFT2 From the National Wildfire Coordinating Group and a certificate in Data Analytics.
She lives in Mills River and enjoys mountain biking, backpacking, and spending time with her Walker Coonhound- Sadie.
