Growing up near Milwaukee, WI, Lexi first fell in love with the small, fragmented habitats of backyards and city parks. She decided, in the room of her 9th grade biology class, that she wanted to protect the natural world around her.
Lexi comes to Conserving Carolina with an Environmental Science degree from the University of Wyoming and varied professional experience. Previously, the most memorable role she held was as a backcountry trail crew member in the Montana wilderness. Beyond this, she’s led outdoor recreation in Wyoming, worked on a sustainable vegetable farm in Virginia, and maintained city parks in Colorado.
Lexi has felt Western North Carolina call to her for years and is so glad to finally have a home here. Our region’s biodiversity and complex, wildland-urban interface create endless opportunities for stewardship. She believes that, from backyards to National Forests, every green space is important. As a Habitat Restoration Associate, Lexi is proud to implement Conserving Carolina’s habitat management plans and learn more about responsible earth care. In her free time, Lexi enjoys hiking with her dog, spending time with friends and family, and acting in community theater.
