Native Plant Spotlight: Bee Balm
Common name: Bee Balm
Scientific name: Monarda, various species
Type: Perennial wildflower
Blooms: June-August
Color: various, red, pink, white
Light: Full to part sun
Size: 1-4 feet high, 2-4 feet wide
Notes: Bee balm is super easy to grow and attracts a variety of wildlife, including hummingbirds, hummingbird moths, and many other insects. Bee balm will spread by rhizomes that can easily fill a 4×4 area. Unwanted bee balm can be pulled easily, or better yet, put it somewhere that it can freely spread and fill up an area with gorgeous color!
