Monthly Gifts, Lasting Impact
A message from our Development Team

At Conserving Carolina, conservation happens step by step, acre by acre, and often month by month. The steady support of monthly donors helps ensure that the work of protecting land, building trails, and caring for natural places continues all year long.
For supporter David Koll, becoming a monthly donor was a natural extension of the time he spends outdoors enjoying the places conservation helps protect.
“As a local who spends much time outdoors, I am more than impressed with the work CC does,” David shared. “Seems like y’all are everywhere.”
Living just a stone’s throw from Hickory Nut Gorge, David has watched Conserving Carolina’s trail work take shape close to home. “In my opinion the trail system CC is working on is nothing short of a work of art,” he said. David is referencing our ambitious goal of building 100+ trail system called the Hickory Nut Gorge State Trail.
Trails are one of the ways many people experience the impact of conservation firsthand. For David, the Ecusta Trail is a favorite destination. “It’s one of my ‘go to’ rail-to-trails,” he explained. “There is an extreme shortage of rail-to-trails in WNC and this is a much needed resource.”
These places are more than just beautiful landscapes. They represent years of work and collaboration. “These are only two examples of the locations I enjoy compliments of the hard work Conserving Carolina does,” David said. “This is only a small way I can be part of the legacy and vision.”
David has supported conservation for many years, including long-time support of The Nature Conservancy. Seeing organizations work together locally gives him confidence that his support is making a real impact.
“I can feel confident that my dollars are hard at work creating something tangible for future generations,” David shared. “Thank you so much for all CC does for the environmental community and for the world.”
Monthly support makes it possible to keep conservation moving forward — protecting land, expanding trails, and caring for the places that make Western North Carolina special.
And while we’re on the subject of monthly giving, we’re also excited to introduce Jenn Ramsdell, who recently joined the Conserving Carolina team and is now leading our monthly giving efforts. Jenn comes to us from Spokane, Washington and is excited to connect with supporters who make this work possible. They enjoy making art, spending time with their two cats, and getting to know the landscapes and people that make this region so special.
As Jenn gets settled, they’re looking forward to connecting with more members and helping grow this important form of support — one small gift at a time, helping conservation continue step by step and acre by acre.
Branches of Giving is a monthly segment sharing inspiring stories from our dedicated supporters, letters from our Development Team, and different ways you can give back and make a difference for conservation.
