Originally from Asheville, NC, Saije has called multiple parts of the Appalachian Mountains home. They are inextricably connected to these mountains and engage in many outdoor sports that could not exist without the environment around us. Access to the mountains and rivers that are the heart and veins of Appalachia has fundamentally shaped Saije’s identity, and they recognize that is a privilege not everyone has.
Saije’s passion for the environment led them to obtain a Bachelors in Sustainable Development with a minor in Recreation Management from Appalachian State University. Through volunteering and employment at ASU, they have engaged in outreach and education, event coordination, and waste management efforts. Saije is excited to serve with Asheville Greenworks, helping to conserve the ecosystems of Appalachia and ensure that others have access to the immense services they provide.
