Born and raised in West Virginia, Kaliyah has always felt at home in the great outdoors. Her love of hiking and working outside led her to earn a degree in Natural Resources and Recreation Management from Marshall University. There she learned the true meaning of connecting with nature. Realizing that many people lacked access to similar experiences, she made it her mission to help others discover the outdoors. Through her work with AmeriCorps NCCC, Marshall University, and the National Park Service, she found a passion for service and community impact. Now with the City of Charlotte Landscape Management, Kaliyah helps neighborhoods build resilience and supports the city’s goal of expanding its tree canopy.
