The Role of Mushrooms in Our Ecosystem
Conserving Carolina and the Landrum Library invite the public to attend a free program “Functional Fungus,” presented by Joel Myers, a mycologist at Mushroom Mountain. The program will be held at the Landrum Library, 111 East Asbury Drive Landrum, SC, on Thursday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m.
The program will discuss the vital role that mushrooms play in our ecosystems and what makes these fungi such an important factor. Joel will also talk about how some mushrooms can be used to “clean up” certain contaminants and some of the ways that ability might be utilized.
The lecture is part of Conserving Carolina’s monthly Speaker Series at the Landrum Library. The next program will be held on April 26th, when Robin Eng, a graduate student at Clemson University, will be presenting “The Cute and the Cryptic: Eastern Spotted Skunks in the Carolina Appalachians.”
