Date: January 18, 2025
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve
Speaker: Liz Hillard, Wildlands Network’s senior wildlife biologist for the Appalachian region
This presentation will highlight the importance of habitat connectivity in Western North Carolina/the Southern Appalachians, highlighting local efforts to provide wildlife safe passage across our roadways, and discuss the challenges (and opportunities) in building back better, with wildlife in mind, after Hurricane Helene.
Liz Hillard is Wildlands Network’s senior wildlife biologist for the Appalachian region and based in Asheville. She engages in wildlife conservation research and efforts in WNC that improve habitat connectivity to combat the negative impacts of habitat loss and fragmentation on our region’s biodiversity.
The Walnut Creek Preserve Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Preserve.
*Walnut Creek Preserve is private property and guests are only allowed on the property by invitation (a planned event or scheduled group). Thank you.
