August 19, 2023 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Date: August 19, 2023
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Location: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve
Speaker: April Ryan, Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI)
Come learn about our solar system and deep space beyond. Planets, supernovas, and galaxies revealed! Explore our galactic neighborhood, close to home and millions of light years away. Explore our earth’s climate, the planets of our solar system, and uncover techniques used to observe other parts of the galaxy in an effort to learn more about how our own sun and planets came into being. Travel 4.5 billion years into the past when our sun was born up to the current day fate of our planet Earth.
PARI is the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, a non-profit dedicated to STEM education and space science outreach. A former NASA site that was originally built in the 1960’s as a secret base for satellite technology development, the site is now open to all as PARI hosts public and private events, tours, open houses, summer camps, field trips, and more.
PARI operates by the immense help of our volunteers, donors and community partnerships to reach as many people as possible.
*Walnut Creek Preserve is private property and guests are only allowed on the property by invitation (a planned event or scheduled group). Thank you.
