Walnut Creek Preserve Speaker Series: Hunters in the Sky!
June 21 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

Date: June 21, 2025
Time: 10:30 a.m.
Presentation Location: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve
Speaker: Carlton Burke, naturalist and educator
Predatory birds, also known as raptors, fascinate most people, but living in our modern world, these majestic birds face many obstacles to their safety and survival. Meet some live examples of birds of prey and learn more about their day-to-day struggles. This will be a great program for the whole family, so bring the kids!
Carlton Burke is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator who operates Carolina Mountain Naturalists, an education service which presents a variety of wildlife and nature-related programs. He previously spent many years as the Curator of Exhibits at the Western North Carolina Nature Center and is one of the founding instructors for the Blue Ridge Naturalist Certificate program at the NC Arboretum where he presents many programs and also presently works as an environmental instructor with the non-profit organization Mountain Roots.
The Walnut Creek Preserve Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Preserve.
