Saluda Library Speaker Series: Fungi, Food and The Future: Using mushrooms in a sustainable lifestyle
January 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
Date: January 9, 2024
Time: 2:00 p.m.
Location: Polk County Public Libraries, Saluda Branch
Speaker: Lizza Bixby, Director of Education at Mushroom Mountain
Join us as we explore the topic of sustainability and how mushrooms fit into a sustainable lifestyle. Lizza will cover the importance of mushrooms and fungi in our food systems, their role in the ecosystem, innovative mycological solutions, and the future potentials of mushrooms in our daily lives.
Lizza is an avid mushroom lover, and she believes in their power to shape and save, not only us, but also our environment. Lizza enjoys cultivating mushrooms, teaching workshops, and leading educational tours for all ages at Mushroom Mountain. While not mushrooming, Lizza enjoys making tie dye, hiking, playing the flute, and dancing!
The Saluda Library Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Polk County Public Libraries Systems and a grant from the Polk County Community Foundation.
