Landrum Library Speaker Series: Native Freshwater Fishes of Upstate SC – Conservation challenges & strategies
April 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Date: April 22, 2025
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Landrum Library
Speakers: Kevin Kubach and Rachel Moore with the SC Department of Natural Resources
Kevin Kubach and Rachel Moore will provide an overview of native freshwater fish diversity in the uplands of South Carolina, explain how human alteration of native landscapes affects stream and river integrity, and highlight work being done by SCDNR and collaborators to help conserve these aquatic resources. This program will feature LIVE FISH, examples of some of the beautiful species living in our area streams and rivers, so bring the kids too!
Kevin Kubach (20 years with SCDNR) and Rachel Moore (3 years) are biologists with the Statewide Freshwater Research Program of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, based in Clemson. They work primarily on studies aimed at enabling proactive, watershed-scale conservation of aquatic resources, as well as efforts to understand and protect freshwater fish species of greatest conservation need.
The Landrum Library Speaker Series programs are made possible thanks to our partnership with the Spartanburg County Public Libraries.
