Speakers: Dr. Wade B. Worthen, ecologist and professor of biology at Furman University

Dragonflies are important components of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, and their diversity is a good indicator of habitat quality. This presentation will focus on the general ecology of these fascinating organisms and will provide an overview of the diverse species that make the upstate their home.

Dr. Wade B. Worthen is the Rose J. Forgione Professor of Biology at Furman University, where he has taught Biology and Ecology for over 30 years.  He has published more than 50 papers on community ecology, with most examining the effects of competition and resource partitioning among dragonflies. He is a recent recipient of a Fulbright Scholars Grant to study dragonfly communities in Costa Rica.
