FBR Series Part 5: EXPLORE! A float on the French Broad River!
July 7, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The N.C. Cooperative Extension, Transylvania County Center and Conserving Carolina are offering a series of lectures, field trips, and service days to better acquaint the public with the French Broad River, considered one of the oldest rivers in the world, and give you ways to explore and act on its behalf.
The series is divided into 5 topics – March – July; each topic will have lecture (LEARN), field trip (EXPLORE), and service day (ACT) components. Lectures will be presented by local experts, authors, and scientists. Field trips will highlight the topics introduced by the speakers, and service days will act upon those topics.
The fifth part of our series: EXPLORE A float on the French Broad River!
Let’s get on the river! Join us on a class 1 and 2 urban float on the French Broad River. Joining us will be Trevor Freeman from the Western North Carolina Historical Association talking about past challenges to the health of the French Broad River, and Jack Henderson of Mountain True talking about ways we are currently addressing these challenges to keep the river healthy. We will be using both inflatable rafts and kayaks, a fee is required. Meeting spot to be determined.
Registration is required and space is limited. Please contact Kim Gundler at kim@conservingcarolina.org to register or with any questions.
