MOSS: MINI in Size with MAXI Benefits — The Significant Role of Bryophytes in Earth’s Ecosystems.

As the oldest living land plants, mosses (bryophytes) play a significant role in terms of environmental benefits to our planet. Not only do mosses provide year-round green appeal in garden landscapes; there are many reasons that mosses make good horticultural choices for healthy ecosystems. Annie Martin, aka Mossin’ Annie, nationally-recognized moss gardening expert and author of The Magical World of Moss Gardening, will provide insights for environmentally-conscious gardeners.  Discover how moss colonies serve as major carbon sequestration sites along with other interesting facts. A PowerPoint presentation will reinforce concepts. Live moss species will be on display.

Annie is a nationally recognized moss landscape designer and author of The Magical World of Moss Gardening.  She is the owner of Mountain Moss Enterprises in Pisgah Forest, NC, and she specializes in creating innovative moss-scapes and cultivates mosses at her Mossery in Brevard.  Annie has been featured in newspapers and magazines including The New York Times, Our State magazine, Carolina Home and Garden magazine and many more.
