Dear friends,

Some incredible news just broke about the Ecusta Trail! Senator Thom Tillis just announced that the City of Brevard was awarded a $24.6 million grant for trail construction!

We are over the moon about this game changing grant! Almost two years ago, a subsidiary of Conserving Carolina bought the land for this 19-mile rail trail. Since then, we have been working with Friends of the Ecusta Trail to raise the funds we need for construction.

We got some major grants and our community gave so generously, raising millions of dollars in matching funds. Still, rising costs have made our goal of building the trail ever harder to achieve. We needed a big break like this!

The funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation as a RAISE (Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity) grant.

We just learned this incredible news and we wanted to share it with you right away. We’ll have more to share soon about what this means for the trail, our next steps, and how much we will need raise to match this grant.

But today we just want to celebrate. I also want to thank YOU for providing the incredible community support that demonstrated that the Ecusta Trail is such a worthy project.

I especially want to thank everyone who has made a donation to the trail, large or small, including the major donors recognized here. Big grants like this only matter because of local donors who help us meet the match. If you want to make a donation now, we are so grateful and you can donate here.

You are making the dream real! Today, we are a HUGE step closer.

You can learn more in this article published in the Hendersonville Times-News.

Sincerely,

Kieran Roe

Executive Director
