Post Cards to the Earth

Conserving Carolina honored and celebrated Earth Day 2022 in the fresh spring air by organizing the Earth Day Festival at Harmon Field in Tryon, NC. Our Southeast Stewardship Manager, Pam Torlina, planned and coordinated the event where local organizations came out to man booths, celebrate the Earth, and share their environmentalist efforts with those who attended. It was a wonderful chance for people to listen to live music, learn about local businesses and conservation efforts, and enjoy the fresh air. Although all environmental centered, each booth had something unique to share with visitors and demonstrated a renewed hope in our planet’s future.

Earth Day marks the anniversary of the modern environmental movement of 1970 and is not only a celebration of the planet that sustains all life, but a call to action. Over the years, Earth Day has had many themes. This April 22nd the theme was “Invest in our Planet” as a call for businesses to shift towards more sustainable practices.

Among the attendees were many families and children. What better way to invest in our planet than with educating the next generation about sustainable practices and inspiring their appreciation for the Earth? Conserving Carolina’s booth had “Post Cards to the Earth” where kids could draw an Earth Day themed postcard and send it to the Earth.

Again, Conserving Carolina hosted a booth at Rabbit Rabbit in Asheville, NC for a Kids Earth Day Event. At our table we had the same activity for kids, resulting in some amazing illustrations. It was humbling and hope-inspiring to be able to not only share our conservationist message this past Earth Week, but in return witness the creativity and passion kids have for our Earth.
