Mike is a retired lawyer, having specialized in Environmental and Land Use Law in a career spanning forty years. A native Floridian, he somehow never managed to see a mountain until he was nineteen years old. At that first sight, he was smitten, and, as he has often said, fated to live in the precious greenness of Western North Carolina. It took him awhile, but he finally arrived in 1993 and is not leaving. Mike has a B.A. degree from Stetson University, a J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. He is past chair of the Apple Country Greenways Commission and a member of the Henderson County Greenway Master Plan Committee. Currently, he serves on the Henderson County Rails to Trails Advisory Committee. He is passionate about conserving the natural world, especially these ancient mountains, which he enjoys with his wife, Debby, and his daughter, Mara, and son-in-law, Charlie.
