Christy Blakely joined the board in 2021 and has resided in Transylvania County since 2017 with a keen interest in land use planning, land protection, and the health of the French Broad River. Christy owns and operates a local small business, the Cedar Mountain Outpost, a modern gas station and café and community hub near DuPont State Recreational Forest.
Prior to her time in Transylvania County, Christy had a 15-year career as a Commercial Real Estate Developer, primarily throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Chesapeake Bay watershed areas, where she developed an appreciation for and understanding of the importance of land use planning and regulations for the protection of natural resources, farmland, open spaces, wetlands, and floodplains.
Christy currently serves on Conserving Carolina’s Stewardship, Land Protection, Nominating & Board Development, and French Broad River Stewards committees and enjoys annually sponsoring the organization’s French Broad River Festival.
