Amos Dawson is a North Carolina native, growing up in Southern Pines, N.C.  He has been volunteering with Conserving Carolina since he and his wife Gail moved to Saluda from Raleigh in 2012. Amos has served on the Stewardship and Land Protection Committees and as a Past President. He has been practicing Environmental Law in North and South Carolina for the past 45 years. Amos served as the original Staff Counsel for the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission and in the Environmental Protection Division of the N. C. Attorney General’s Office from 1975 to 1980. Since then, Amos has been in private practice. He is a former Chair of the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Section of the NC Bar Association. He is a member and volunteer with Citizens Climate Lobby, seeking to address climate change at the local and national levels.

Amos loves the Saluda community, living in the mountains and working with all the outstanding Conserving Carolina staff and volunteers to help protect and conserve nature and all our non-human brothers and sisters in western North Carolina who sustain us and make this area such a wonderful place to co-exist. Amos and Gail are excited about continuing to help Conserving Carolina achieve its vital mission of protecting forever the places we all love.
