Evan was born and raised in sunny south Florida, and received his B.S. in Environmental Studies from the University of Central Florida. After completing his undergraduate degree, he served two terms with AmeriCorps Project Conserve doing water quality work in Hendersonville. Within just a few months of living in western North Carolina, Evan developed a strong connection to the region, and quickly informed his family he would not be moving back to Florida.

Evan also holds a M.S. in Sustainability Studies from Lenoir-Rhyne University. His primary goal in life is to cultivate a sustainable society, from the local to the international level. In addition to being concerned about environmental issues, he is passionate about social justice and animal rights, viewing these as essential pieces of the sustainability puzzle.

As Conserving Carolina’s Programs Coordinator, Evan wears many hats, so to speak. He oversees special projects, provides support for various programs, writes grants, oversees Conserving Carolina’s climate change initiatives, and acts as the IT manager, among other responsibilities.
