Tamia Dame is an alum of UNC Asheville, where she earned her B.S. in Environmental Studies, Management, and Policy in 2020. She moved from Lenoir, NC to Asheville in 2015 and has since become passionate about community and conservation, gaining experience with Asheville GreenWorks, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, and the UNC Asheville Office of Sustainability. In these positions, she engaged in youth and adult education, facilitated regular communications and outreach, managed various events, wrote op-eds for local publications, presented at conferences and more. As a member of AmeriCorps Project Conserve Tamia is thrilled to engage closely with urban forestry and volunteer coordination and to play a role in creating a successful landscape for sustained environmental momentum during the COVID-19 pandemic. She especially looks forward to fostering dialogue on the social implications of the pandemic as they relate to conservation, including important conversations about justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
