Shaylyn was born and raised in Holly Springs, North Carolina. His love for nature began at the age of 10 when one fateful night his father showed him the rings of Saturn through his telescope. From that point on, his eyes remained locked on the stars, absorbing as much information about space and the uniqueness and fragility of our planet amongst the heavens. With the stars out of reach, Shaylyn channeled his appreciation for our little blue marble into volunteer work on Earth. Throughout college at Mars Hill University, he participated in multiple habitat reconstruction projects, river clean-ups, community hikes, and trail building as a Bonner Scholar while seeking education in History and Environmental Science. Today, he hopes to share his passion for the Earth through education of future generations and expose them to nature so that they may become future stewards of conservation.
