A Kentucky native, Laura moved to North Carolina five years ago in pursuit of a degree from UNC Asheville. In 2018, she received her Bachelor’s in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Ecology and Field Biology. Spending a large portion of her childhood around bodies of water, Laura has always felt a connection to freshwater ecosystems and the beauty & power that accompanies them. This passion led her into an internship with the WNC Wildlife Resources Commission, centered around the propagation and reestablishment of native mussel species. Valuing stream-life and its ability to connect us all together, Laura is excited to continue along this freshwater path– engaging the community, spreading environmental stewardship and protecting our local waterways. In her free time, Laura can be found crafting for her side business, attending live music or barefoot looking for critters.
