Hannah was born and raised in Hilton, New York. She spent most of her childhood summers camping in and around the Adirondack region. It was this exposure to nature at a young age that would eventually inspire her to pursue a degree in Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. During her time there she interned with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, New York Sea Grant, and was a filmmaker for Canisius Ambassadors for Conservation. At BN Waterkeeper she was involved in educating local refugee communities about the Buffalo River’s history of industrial pollution. This experience sparked her interest in environmental social justice and empowering local communities through education. Serving as the Communications & Community Engagement Associate with Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy, she looks forward to addressing issues related to equity and inclusion, while building relationships with diverse communities. In her free time, you can find her hiking, eating ice cream, or browsing the shelves of a local bookstore!
