Hanna grew up in Chapel Hill, NC, where she spent a lot of time playing in the woods, digging in the dirt, and finding her love for the natural world. Hanna earned her BA in Environmental Biology and Spanish at Washington University in St. Louis. During her time in Missouri, Hanna researched disease ecology (ask her about ticks and mosquitoes!), worked on invasive species management in the Ozark border region, and gained interest in land conservation and the relationship between people and their environment. Though the midwest treated her well, Hanna is thrilled to be back in her home state, joining SAHC’s stewardship team and learning more about the vibrant communities, both human and non-human, of Western NC. In her free time, Hanna loves hiking, running, cooking, and hanging out with dogs.
