Having spent her early years wading, paddling, and throwing cast nets into the brackish waters that steep the low country where she grew up, Ellie has a deep love and fascination for the natural world and the variety of life that emerges from it. She graduated from Appalachian State with a degree in biology and a minor in philosophy. Before graduating, her love of the outdoors further blossomed from her thru hike of the Appalachian Trail back in 2021.
You can find her playing old-time music around town, making art, dancing, and finding new trees and places to learn from. Ellie’s love of science, expression, and preserving the world via education and communal reciprocity brought her to Project Conserve. Here, she is collaborating with Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation, and she can’t wait to bring her passions and skill-sets into the areas that the community needs.
