Callia grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin right next to Lake Michigan aka. the Fresh Coast. As a child she would spend countless hours in her backyard picking flowers for her Mom, gathering raspberries in the woods, with her neighbor, Mrs. Pink, and climbing atop the shed to stare at the stars. Originally in school for education and math, she had a quarter-life crisis and switched her studies to Environmental Sciences. Among other things, her post-college experiences have allowed her to teach children at an Urban Ecology Center, work on trails in Western North Carolina, and gave her the opportunity to fall asleep oceanside after full days of hiking and doing van life in New Zealand. During her second term with AmeriCorps this year she is looking forward to expanding her teaching experience through new virtual resources and finding innovative ways to encourage stewarding engagement with our natural world.
