Brenna Johnson grew up on Fort Bragg near Fayetteville, North Carolina. During the summers, she attended the Montreat Youth Conference, which instilled in her a love for the Blue Ridge Mountains. She received her B.S. in Environmental Management and Policy and B.A. in Economics from UNC Asheville. Because of her passion for environmental stewardship and civic engagement, she volunteered for many student organizations during her time at UNCA, including UNCA Divest, Bulldogs for Bernie, and the Sunrise Movement. She also conducted research in energy conservation, air quality, environmental justice in NC, and urban renewal. She assisted the Economics Dept. by creating a database of families displaced by urban renewal in Asheville. Last summer, she interned with MountainTrue as their Water Quality and Community Outreach Intern. She is so excited to work with the Rutherford Outdoor Coalition as their Trails Coordinator, where she can help foster environmental stewardship while appreciating the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!
