Allison was born and raised in Downingtown, PA, a suburban town west of Philadelphia. Despite her proximity to such a busy city, she was raised in a household with a motto inspired by the infamous John Muir quote, “Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt”. She attended Messiah University in Central PA where she received her B.S. in Biology with an Ecological concentration in Spring 2021. During her time at Messiah, she conducted a sustainable agriculture research project with aquaponics systems, where her and her mentor experimented with the use of chicken waste as an alternative nutrient source for potatoes. She was also a member of her department’s Biology Club leadership team, where she served as the Social Media Coordinator during her senior year and developed a passion for communications. Most recently, she worked as a Nature Instructor at Summerside Camps located in Northern Philadelphia, spending this past summer teaching about nature and leading hikes along the Wissahickon Valley. She aspires to attend graduate school and become a science journalist, hopefully with a focus on conservation issues. Allison’s hobbies include hiking, writing, traveling, and being a plant mom.
