Abby was born and raised in Brevard, North Carolina, a valley town in the Appalachian Mountains. Constantly being surrounded by beautiful landscapes and fascinating wildlife sparked her interest in science at a young age. She spent years in school researching an invasive species found locally, and participated in a science research program that brought her closer to the diversity displayed in her environment. Through school, she always enjoyed working with youth development and volunteered with multiple programs. Abby continued her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and recently graduated with a BA in Biology and Anthropology. Her combination of interests encompasses not only the natural world but how people interact and engage with it. Abby has a passion for working with people in her community, and is so excited to be a part of such a great program
