Volunteer Hike: Fawn Lake and Lake Julia

December 11 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Calling All Volunteers!

Join us for a Volunteers Only Hike at DuPont! For this hike, we will be going to DuPont State Recreational Forest: Fawn Lake and Lake Julia, one of our region’s most treasured destinations. The hike will take you along some of the quieter trails in the popular forest. In four miles of relatively gentle terrain, you will see two beautiful lakes and gorgeous mountain views from the opening cleared for a (rarely used) airstrip.

This hike is also on the White Squirrel Hiking Challenge 6, so this hike is an opportunity to check one off the list!
Conserving Carolina is proud to have played a major role in the conservation of DuPont State Recreational Forest. In fact, it’s how we got our start as a land trust! We’ve gone on to help protect thousands of acres of private land adjoining the state forest. And recently we added the 717-acre Continental Divide Tract, linking DuPont to a 100,000+ acre conservation corridor.

WHEN: Saturday, December 11th

WHO: Must be a Conserving Carolina Volunteer. If you are unsure of your volunteer status, contact Community Engagement Associate, Gabe at [email protected] or 828-697-5777 ext. 222.

WHAT: The hike is approximately 4-miles with relatively gentle and wide trails. There is some moderate gain and loss of elevation.

WHERE: Meet at 9AM at Park at the Fawn Lake Access Area (3051 Reasonover Rd, Cedar Mountain, NC 28718) Bring water and snacks.
