Fall Hiking Series: Weed Patch Mountain trail
November 8, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
Where: Weed Patch Mountain trail
Meet: Ingles Market, Hwy 9, south of Lake Lure, @ 8:30
10-miles, strenuous; trail end to end with shuttle
We will partner with Polk County Recreation, who will provide vans for a shuttle, for a hike on the award-winning Weed Patch Mountain trail. Starting at Eagle Rock in Chimney Rock State Park, the trail will traverse along rock outcrops, pristine mountain streams, and an old growth forest in addition to offering spectacular long range views before ending at Buffalo Creek Park.
Approximately 1 hour drive, to Eagle Rock.
Due to the shuttle, there is a cap on the number of people we can accommodate, so sign-up is mandatory, but you are welcome to arrange your own shuttle if we fill up!
Hike sign up is FULL!
Please email Pam@conservingcarolina.org if you’d like to be placed on a waiting list to replace someone that signed up and may not be able to attend.
This hike will leave Ingles promptly at 8:30 a.m. Hikers should plan to return to the area in the late afternoon.
Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring a bag lunch and snack and plenty of water for yourself. In case of inclement weather, Pam will email those that have signed up before 8:00 a.m. on the date of the hike, and you can check our Facebook page and calendar of events. Please also remember to bring any medication that you may need in the event of an emergency (ie: epinephrine, nitroglycerine, insulin, etc.). Hike leaders will carry a first aid kit; however, it may not contain specific medication for your individual needs.
Before each hike, you will be asked to sign a waiver form. For your safety, do not attempt any hike beyond your ability and experience. This schedule is subject to change.
