Fall Hiking Series: Bursted Rock (Canceled)
November 1, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
SORRY, FRIENDS, WITH ALL OF THE RAIN MAKING A PORTION OF THE ROAD IMPASSABLE, THIS HIKE IS CANCELED – WE’LL TRY AGAIN IN THE SPRING!
Although the weather this Friday looks great, the last portion of the single track, rough, bush road to the trail head may not be passable for all vehicles if the next two days bring a lot of rain…and Bursted Rock could be slick if still wet.
Please email email@example.com to be placed on an emaiil list for updates.
The enjoyment and safety of participants is of utmost importance, and we appreciate your understanding.
Where: Bursted Rock, Headwaters State Park
Meet: Columbus, Food Lion parking area, east side, @ 8:30
5.2-miles, strenuous; trail type-out and back
This hike will offer a fantastic view in Headwaters State Forest and a view of the north side of Table Rock Mountain in South Carolina.
Following Gum Gap Trail to a spur of the Foothills Trail, hikers will enjoy spectacular views from the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Approximately 1 hour drive, one-way.
Contact Pam@conservingcarolina.org with additional questions.
Conserving Carolina is sponsoring a Friday hiking series this fall, free, guided, and open to the public. The hikes will meet at various locations (noted for each date) and will leave promptly at 8:45 a.m. Hikers should plan to return to the area in the late afternoon, time varying with group size, distance of hike, and drive time. Car-pooling will be organized at the meeting locations. If you’re coming from an area closer to the trailhead, please contact Pam Torlina (email above and number below) to make other meeting arrangements.
Be sure to wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring a bag lunch and/or snack and plenty of water for yourself. In case of inclement weather, if you have emailed Pam, you will receive an email before 8:00 a.m. on the date of the hike, and/or you can check our Facebook page and calendar of events for updates. Please also remember to bring any medication that you may need in the event of an emergency (ie: epinephrine, nitroglycerine, insulin, etc.). Hike leaders will carry a first aid kit; however, it may not contain specific medication for your individual needs.
Before each hike, you will be asked to sign a waiver form. For your safety, do not attempt any hike beyond your ability and experience. This schedule is subject to change.
