Hikes, Bikes, and Horseback Rides

May 23, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

At the final event of our spring speaker series at Transylvania County Library, Kim Coram and John Wiseman will speak about the mission and efforts of Pisgah Area SORBA and using shared trails.

Meet in the Rogow Room at 6 pm for the talk. There will be time for questions at the end of the presentation.

Pisgah Area SORBA became an official chapter on November 19, 2005, born out of the need for the local mountain bikers to have a voice. John and Kim currently serve as trail crew leaders, and Kim also serves as a board member. The group’s mission is to promote land access, trail preservation, and new trail development in order to enhance mountain bike touring, racing, fun, and fellowship for all mountain bicyclists in the southeastern United States.

The trails in Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Forest are legendary; as a result, their use is increasing significantly.  PAS contributes a significant amount of volunteer labor and funds to improve trail conditions, but more help is always needed. Learn about the focus of PAS’ work and their use of engineering crews in remote locations as well as protocol for shared use trails and ways you can get involved. This is a highly-interactive gathering and all are most welcome.

We hope you will join us for the Conserving Carolina Speaker Series again in the fall. Like us on Facebook to stay updated on upcoming events, workdays, opportunities and more!
