Volunteers will not be asked to handle any chemicals or herbicides or to operate any fossil fuel-powered equipment. \nWhere and When\n\nWeekly\, rain\, or shine\, with exceptions for extreme weather\nAll workdays will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a well-earned break in between\nFeel free to choose specific days or pledge yourself to a steady regime as best suits you.\n\n\n\n\nFirst Wednesday: Pleasant Grove – Etowah\, Henderson County\nSecond Wednesday: Mouth of Mud Creek – Mills River/Arden\, Henderson County\nThird Wednesday: Florence Nature Preserve – Gerton\, Henderson/Buncombe Counties\nFourth Wednesday: Land Manager’s choice of Preserve\, location – to be published in each month’s volunteer newsletter and online calendar. This will be a chance to see some neat corners of the world\, with exclusive access. SUMMARY:Walk\, Learn\, Restore: Exploring the Floodplain
DESCRIPTION:Where: Deerwoode Reserve \nMeet: 395 Riversedge Rd\, Brevard\, NC 28712 \nTime: 10:00 am \nDistance and difficulty: Easy \nJoin us for the final of our three-part Walk & Learn series at Deerwoode Reserve in Brevard\, and experience floodplain restoration as it happens. This final guided walk invites you onto a protected property conserved through a Conserving Carolina conservation easement\, offering a rare\, behind-the-scenes look at how healthy floodplains are restored and why they matter. \nThis final walk is about one hour and takes place at the final stage of the project: \n\nWalk Three\, June 27: After Completion – Return to witness the finished restoration and discuss how the floodplain will continue to heal and function over time.\n\nWhether you’ve joined us for one walk or all three\, this series offers a unique opportunity to walk the land\, learn from the process\, and connect with the story of restoration in real time. \n*Space is limited and pre-registration is required\, and space is limited to 30 participants. Registration\, by RSVP below.   \nBe sure wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear\, dress for a walk outdoors and on uneven\, natural surfaces. Bring a snack and water for yourself. \nPlease also remember to bring any medication that you may need in the event of an emergency (ie: epinephrine\, nitroglycerine\, insulin\, etc.). Walk leaders will carry a first aid kit; however\, it may not contain specific medication for your individual needs. \nBefore each walk\, you will be asked to sign a waiver form. For your safety\, do not attempt any walk beyond your ability and experience.
