SUMMARY:Brackenfest 3.0
DESCRIPTION:Brackenfest 3.0 is a fundraising event to expand Bracken Preserve – Brevard’s own trail system which directly links to the Pisgah National Forest. With a current 432 acres and nine miles of trail – we are on our way to adding the next 3-4 miles (with 1-2 miles planned for completion within 2025) of beginner and intermediate trails and need your help!  \nBrackenfest is a Time Trial event – the winners achieving the most laps in a three hour timeline – and the bragging rights that the winners deserve. This year the event is open to Trail Runners as well!  \nThanks to generous donations – 100% of the proceeds from the event go to the new Bracken Trails  \nPrizes for the winners in all categories – Adult Men and Women\, Student Men and Women\, and Youth. Award Ceremony will be at 1:00PM  \nLunch for participants and volunteers is included in registration and location will be announced within this week. If you would like your friends or family to join you – there is a $15.00 additional cost. (Lunch and non-alcoholic beverages included). Beer or Wine is available. \nPlease consider getting your own sponsors to donate to the event – maybe a $ per lap based on your prediction?  \nWe also have a raffle with tickets priced at $20 each with major items being added each week. So far we have a set of Gulo Wheels (Value of $2250) and a biking kit from Cognative MTB\, as well as a party package from Oskar Blues and a Breakfast or Lunch package from Morning Social. DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring evening of storytelling\, resilience\, and environmental restoration. \nThis special screening features a series of short films produced by PBS NC that shine a light on our region’s rivers and the communities working to protect them. From disaster response to long-term conservation\, these powerful stories highlight what it means to build a safer\, more sustainable future. \nOne film follows MountainTrue in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Helene as they responded to the dramatic transformation of the Green River and distributed well testing kits to local residents. Another explores how Conserving Carolina is restoring natural floodplains\, a type of work that not only reduces flood risk but also revives vital wildlife habitats. One of these restored areas is in a neighborhood built by Henderson County & Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity\, providing both protection and a peaceful green space for residents. \nFollowing the screening (just under an hour)\, stay for a 30-minute panel discussion featuring representatives from MountainTrue\, Conserving Carolina\, and Henderson County & Thermal Belt Habitat for Humanity.
