DESCRIPTION:Date: September 20\, 2025 \nTime: 10:30 a.m. \nLocation: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve \nSpeaker: Caitlin Brett\, Furbearer Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission \nThe Eastern Spotted Skunk (Spilogale putorius) is a rarely-seen but charismatic species native to western North Carolina. Come learn more about the biology of this unique species\, its mountain habitat\, and how the NC Wildlife Resources Commission goes about researching and managing the Spotted Skunk in our state. \nCaitlin Brett is the state Furbearer Biologist with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission\, and represents a wide variety of species in the state including otters\, opossums\, muskrats\, foxes\, bobcats\, beavers\, coyotes\, weasels\, and skunks.
