DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, April 19\, 2025 \nTime: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm \nWhere: South Main Street in Hendersonville between Allen Street and Caswell Street \n\nCelebrate Earth Day at Hendo Earth Fest\n  \nThe City of Hendersonville Environmental Sustainability Board is hosting the 3rd annual Hendo Earth Fest in downtown Hendersonville on Earth Day from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm! Local organizations and environmental champions will educate\, entertain\, and raise awareness of the need to protect our planet for future generations.  This is a free\, family-friendly educational event! \nThe festival is sponsored by the Hendersonville Environmental Sustainability Board (ESB) in association with Conserving Carolina\, MountainTrue\, Caregivers of Mother Earth\, and the Blue Ridge Bicycle Club. \nThis is a free\, family-friendly educational event to promote community education for all ages about environmental and sustainable practices\, to inspire action\, and to renew and expand commitments to protect our planet. Local and regional environmental organizations will provide participation/hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to educate\, renew and expand action to protect our Western North Carolina environment and natural resources. SUMMARY:Walnut Creek Preserve Speaker Series: Caring for Trees on Your Property
DESCRIPTION:Date: April 19\, 2025 \nTime: 10:30 a.m. \nLocation: Anne Elizabeth Suratt Nature Center at Walnut Creek Preserve \nSpeaker: Jason Llano\, Board Certified Master Arborist and the owner of Optimal Arboriculture \nThis presentation aims to educate property owners on the benefits of trees\, while also providing resources to help identify potential risks and health concerns that may increase the likelihood of tree failure or decline. We will explore best practices for tree care\, focusing on how these can enhance tree health and reduce risk\, as well as how poor tree management can contribute to raising risk and decline. \nThere will be an optional walk to look at trees in the field after the presentation for those that are interested in participating. \nFor your safety\, do not attempt this activity if it is beyond your ability and experience. Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear and bring a snack\, water\, and any personal medication that may be required. \nJason Llano is a Board Certified Master Arborist and the owner of Optimal Arboriculture. He holds both Tree Risk Assessment and Prescription Pruning Qualifications from the International Society of Arboriculture.
