John Dockendorf was first exposed to the mountains, rivers, and trails of WNC as a summer camper at Camp Mondamin in 1972. He moved to the area in 1987 and with his wife, Jane they have raised four outdoor oriented children here. John and Jane are the executive directors of Camp Pinnacle in Flat Rock. John also founded Adventure Treks, an outdoor adventure travel camp in 1993 and is currently the executive director.
John holds an undergraduate degree in Recreation Management from the University of Vermont and a master’s degree in management from the Cornell School of Hotel Administration. He currently serves on the Henderson County Transportation Advisory Committee. Past community service roles includes Flat Rock City Council, French Broad MPO Board and Prioritization Committee member, Board Chair of the Mountain Community School, Founding Board Chair of the French Broad River Academy, and a member of the exploratory committee and playground committee for the Park at Flat Rock.
His recreation time is spent skiing, paddling, hiking, mountain biking, trail running and attending his daughters’ soccer games.Back to Board of Directors Back to Board of Directors
