Carole Bartol has been a lover of the mountains of western North Carolina since she was a child growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She has fond memories of areas near the Blue Ridge Parkway that she often visited with family and friends, fostering the sense that such areas are special and must be protected. Later, she became particularly interested in the native flora, which is what drew her to land conservation. She has served on the development and education committees of the Pacolet Area Conservancy (PAC) and has been Vice President and President of the PAC Board of Directors. Having placed her land in a conservation easement with PAC, she has the satisfaction of knowing that it will be protected in perpetuity. She is proud to be a member of the board of Conserving Carolina.
