Kristen grew up in the mountains of Colorado where she developed her love of the outdoors and all things wild. In 2011, she earned a BS in Environmental Science and a Certificate in GIS from the University of West Florida. After college, she moved to WNC and obtained a seasonal position at Chimney Rock State Park where she was given the opportunity to further explore her interest in plants. After that, Kristen was fortunate to serve in Project Conserve during the 2013-2014 program year as the AmeriCorps Volunteer Program Associate with Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy (now Conserving Carolina). She joined the staff in 2014 as the Project Conserve Program Coordinator. Kristen also holds a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Duke University. She enjoys being outdoors, going on adventures with her family, playing and snuggling with her daughter and fur-children, hiking, running, and identifying plants.
